Château Brane-Cantenac, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, is steeped in a rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The estate rose to prominence as one of the foremost properties in Margaux and its status was cemented in the 1855 classification when it was designated as a Second Growth. The house has changed hands several times since its founding. Under the guidance of the Lurton family, who took ownership in the mid-20th century, Château Brane-Cantenac has flourished, blending tradition with innovation to produce wines that are revered for their elegance and complexity. The château cultivates 75 hectares of vines. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main variety followed by Merlot and small quantities of Cabernet Franc. It also grows Carmenère, a variety that thrives in heat and one the estate is increasingly experimenting with in light of the impact of climate change across Bordeaux vineyards. The estate has become synonymous with the refinement and aromatic richness characteristic of top-tier Margaux wines.
