The winemaking process at Cos d'Estournel is a blend of tradition and cutting-edge technology, exemplified by its gravity-flow winery designed to handle grapes and wine as gently as possible. Ageing takes place for 18 months in a high proportion of new French oak barrels, adding complexity and structure to the wines without compromising their natural expression. The Grand Vin displays brooding dark fruit, spice, and hints of tobacco and leather in a powerful palate underlined by a firm tannic structure and a long, lingering finish. Deep and tannic, Cos d'Estournel has outstanding ageing potential, developing complexity and intensity over time.
