Château Branaire-Ducru, located in the renowned Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, boasts a legacy that dates back to the late 17th century. This esteemed estate, classified as a Fourth Growth in the historic 1855 classification, is a local leader in viticultural excellence and innovation. Over the centuries, the Château has seen numerous owners, each contributing to its evolution and prestige. In 1988, ex-banker Patrick Maroteaux purchased Branaire Ducru from long-term owners, the Tapie family. Over the last several decades, the Maroteaux family has managed the estate with François Xavier Maroteaux at the helm today. The estate has been particularly noted for its advancements in winemaking techniques and vineyard management. These include the introduction of gravity-fed tanks to promote fruit purity and the pioneering of parcel-specific vinification for the expression of distinct terroirs. These methods ensure that Château Branaire-Ducru’s wines consistently reflect the highest standards of quality and the unique terroir of Saint-Julien.

The vineyards of Château Branaire-Ducru are planted on the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, which provide excellent drainage and contribute to the concentration and elegance of the grapes.
