Understanding Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac, Bordeaux
Sourced from the estate's younger vines and selected plots with the gravelly soil composition characteristic of the Lafite terroir, Carruades de Lafite is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot adding depth and complexity. Grapes are vinified individually in a combination of stainless-steel and oak to preserve unique characteristics before blending. Maturation takes place in French oak for 18 months. This ageing process encourages a harmonious balance between fruit and oak, resulting in a structure that is both complex and refined. Carruades de Lafite features black fruit, cedar and subtle spice in a silky palate with well-integrated tannins. This wine is accessible in its youth and capable of ageing gracefully.
